Dad + Esther + Beatrice backpacking (again)
This time we decided to tackle Portola Redwood State Park and the Iverson, Summit and Slate Creek Trails. Esther hiked all but a few steps of the ~5.5 miles trip. Bea did about 4 miles. Now if I could get them to carry some more of the gear...

Goofy smiles at the halfway point...

A break for a snack of "salamali" and crackers...

The crew in action...

Here we are close to the trail camp. Notice the hiking sticks.

We made it!

Staying warm at the trail camp...

Here are the ladies as we broke camp in the morning.

All in all, a great trip. Plenty of mosquito bites. A tick. About a hundred banana slugs (or 'nana pugs' if you ask Bea). Lots of running. A few organized slow downs by two members of the team. And a nice two day break for Sara.
